The course proper was too hard to suit most of the trainers, and nearly all'the work was done on tho plough, which was the track used except where specially mentioned. ~ Variant,and Hostis were restricted to light exercise, having galloped a uspful six furlongs on the previous day. . Chidden was brought home by Sovereign Lady over five furlongs in lmm qsec. Fracas ran six furlongs an Imin 18 sec. ' , ' , ,Bun Fight did half a mile in 50 2-ssec and Back Thrust and Owlsgleam three furlongs in 38sec, Austraea dome 37 2-ssec. Penelope covered five furlongs in lmm' 4,4-ssec, and Desirable six furlongs in lmm 19 3-ssec, Bella Rosa following in lmm 17sec. Scratchmere Scar, with a .lightweight up, did seven furlongs ' with Polydora in Imin 29 2-ssec—a good gallop. Jerry Boy galloped seven furltfngs in lmin 34sec, and Minerval a mile in Imin 44 2-ssec: Nightly, brought home by Safety Zone, did five furlongs m Imin 2sec, and Patrole beat Knowledge over five furlongs in Imin 4 3-ssec. Abdication and Greek Shepherd covered half a mile in 50sec. Tout le Monde beat 1 Cleaner over seven furlongs on the course proper in Imin 29 4-ssec. Malvasia beat Nardoo and Olive Smith over five furlongs in lmin 6scc. Invoice galloped, three furlongs in 38 l-ssec, and Riptide and Maroha did six furlongs in lmin 18 l-ssec. Silver Ring covered three furlongs along the back on the course proper in 37 3-ssec, and Grand Review and Sky Rover a mile in lmm 46 4-ssec. Gas Mask easily beat Lucetta over five furlongs in lmin 6 3-ssec Emissary and Moonbeam did five furlongs in lmin 4sec. Southdown brought ,home by Hostile, also took lmin 4sec. Madame Pompadour registered similar time alone. Top Rank easily beat Importance ov.?r six furlongs in lmin 18sec, Tuirau joining them over the last three. Silver Sight, after going off slowly, beat Colossiari and Some Shamble over six furlongs easily in lmin 16 3-ssec. Golden Dart, with a lightweight up, did seven furlongs in lmin 29 4-ssec, and Ranelagh beat Final Shot in lmin 30scc, while Vintage took lmin 31scc, going comfortably. Imperial Spear cleared out from Doiran, doing lmin 29 4-ssec over seven furlongs . Gaysome covered six furlongs in lmin 14 4-ssec—a good gallop. Quebec took lmin 19sec. -Lowater and a Night Raid mare were together after seven furlongs in Imm 345e6.' ' Cup Bearer and Gold Dress did five furlongs in lmin 4 3-ssec, and Manelho a mile on the course proper in lmiii 47 2-sscc. Courtyard and Rose of Tralee galloped six furlongs in lmin 17 2-ssoc. Colombo beat Lord Masham over five furlongs an lmin,ssec, Gpldstead following a few..Jengths behind all .the way. Fair Weather and Jolly Beggar. covered six furlongs in lmin 18 2-sscc\ ;
