PRIZE OF £12,000
ONEHUNGA SYNDICATE GODSEND TO WINNERS (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 4. The first prize of £12,000 in a Tasmanian consultation has been won by an Onehunga syndicate. The ticket was taken out in the name of Mrs. G., Onehunga, Auckland, New Zealand. The members of the syndicate are Mrs. Gates, wife of Mr. E. Gates, bootmaker, of Te Papapa; Mrs. Peterkin, wife of Mr. J. Peterkin, painter, of Onehunga; Mr. W. Hooker, Te Papapa, and Mr. W. Molloy. of Onehunga. The £12,000 will be divided equally. Both Mrs. Gates and her husband are elderly. . Mr. Hooker is married, with five children. He has been on relief or sustenance for the past two and a half years. He said he had had a hard time. The prize was a godsend. The depression had resulted in Mr. Peterkin being without work for considerable periods.' He is married and has four children. Mr. and Mrs. Molloy are in charge of the branch of the Onehunga co-operative stores. The third prize of £1250 was won by New Zealanders, the. ticket being in the name of "77 Syndicate," Masterton, New Zealand, the number being 129,433. ■ ■ .
