KILBIRNIE STADIUM SPEEDWAY.
After many weeks of preparation, the Kilbirnie Speedway will reopen at 8 o'clock next Saturday evening. A special attraction on the opening programme will be provided by the appearance-of the Australian internatioual Test riders Lionel Van Praag and Dick Case. These speedsters of the cinder track have represented Australia in Test matches against England for the past three years, and their performances in the recent AustraliaEngland matches held at Sydney .and Melbourne stamp them as riders who rank amongst the world's best. Appearing against these Australian internationals in a series of tests will be the well-known Auckland star Alf. Matson, holder of the one-mile cinder.championship of New Zealand, and noted for his exceptional skill and daring. Teams racing will also have an important place in the programme, in connection with which a League cham? pionship event.is being held. The contests on Saturday night will be between teams representing. City and Newtown, captained by Clarrie. Tonks (City) and Peter Phillips (Newtown). ■
