MOTOR GRAVEYARD
Appalled by the increasing numbers 'of worn-out motor-cars abandoned by their owners in the streets of Hew ■York, the Municipality has established seventeen yards or burying grounds conveniently situated whero the owners of obsoleto cars may dump them free of charge. The secretary of tho Department of Sanitation said that last year 10,969 such cars had to ,bo removed from the streets by the city authorities at a cost of about £25,000. Another heavy charge of a similar nature on the city was for the removal and destruction of dead animals, at a cost of £32,000. They included 15,000 largo animals, among which was a dead elephant left behind by a travelling'.circus/.-,-, ~,-. -I ".'.■,. , -.
