MAGICIANS TO COMPETE

Among the revisions to be announced in this year's syllabus for the Wellington Competitions to be held in August will _be included, it is stated, a class for magicians. Because of tlje wide dissemination of literature on ttie subject and the consequent exposes, magicians have been stimulated to invent, new tricks or improve old ones until today the practice of the art calls for a high degree of address and histrionic ability, synchronising actions of a certain purport with words of another purport, whereby the art of misd.rection is effected.

The study of magic in addition to being a ~ fascinating amusement, has a pedagogical value admitted by all professors of psychology; it sharpens the mental facilities, especially those of nhsrrvnlinn nnd titJ tention.
