KARORI CLUB

The Karon Club fired the sixth match of its championship series at ■Trentham on Saturday afternoon..Although the weather was warm and the atmosphere clear, the conditions from the marksman's point of view were far from perfect.

I Of the breezes that blow at Trentham tho one that troubles maiksmen most is the southerly, whether it be light or fresh, riflemen of experience frequently finding themselves at n loss to know whether to allow for windage from the right or from the left. Such were tho conditions on Saturday when the allowance for wind varied quickly at 000 yards from approximately three feet right to two and a haif feet left. When it is considered that the bull's-eye is only eighteen inches iv diameter, it can be realised how difficult ii is to find the bull under such conditions. Scoring was naturally low, the veterans H. V. Croxton and P. B, Goldfinch registering the beSt scores "off the gun," The former won the weekly trophy for scratch men while B. G. Goldfinch, who with hie handicap reached the club standard, won the handicap trophy. Detailed scores are:— „,,„,' 600 yds. Hdcp. Tl. B. G. Goldfinch .... 45 41 4 <io H. Lane 43 38 9 CO J. H. Croxton 43 40 0 8!) H. V. Croxton 42 46 — S3 P. B. Goldfinch, 40, 42—S8; H H King, 40, 44, 3—87; K. E. Hart. 33," 38, 12— 83; H. Frankland, 42, 39-81; A. R. Craic 36 r 41, 4—81; D. The position in the club's championship aggregate, with only two more matches to be fired, has reached an interesting stage, P. B. Goldfinch and J. I. King having equal leading totals of 368 points. A similar position occurs in the handicap abrogate, B. G. Goldfinch and-H. H. Kin's each having a total of 365 points. Leading aggregates in which Saturday's scores counted are:— Championship.—P. B.
