Two Verona Courts sat in judgment on a milliner, largo audiences gathered to Iktu- the. deliberations, and nows-: papers all over the'country commented —:ill for the death of a mouse. ,
Tho mouse in question had been making meals on the milliner's stock of : hats. One day ho was caught in the; act and escaped up.a water-spout.'The/ milliner built a fire under the .spout,: into which the animal fell aud perished after being smoked from his refuge. Agents of a friend of the Animal Society denounced the milliner and he was fined in Police Court. Ho appealed and. after a lengthy session the appeals Judge decided that the mouse's rapacious appetite justified his fiery end.
