SHIP'S LIFEBOAT FOUND

The Director-General of the General Post Office has received the following message from the chief postmaster at Greymouth:—

"Mr. D. J. Diedrich, of Hokitika, reports the finding at 7.15 a.m. on Friday of a ship's lifeboat, a quarter of a mile from the south end of the .Waitaha Bluff (29 miles south of Hokitika). The boat is newly painted, with a blue upper portion and a red lower. It is 20 feet long and 6 feet wide approx., with a rope around the top of the outer edge. It bears no name or other means of identification. The local police have been advised."
