PLATOON COMPETITIONS The platoon competitions, which aro held at. Wellington. College at the end of each ..military, year, were. completed on Kriday. ■■' The competitions consist of various military evolutions—marching, forming fours, wheeling, and other exercises. Tho senior companies .Were' examined in musketry .exereifiee, of "both- a tirtiplc and an .advanced "type.J An"importunfc.aspect of the competition was 'the inspection, which was'of a - very. searching nature. ■ The, first "phasd of the competition was completed on Friday, -November 9, when the "school oflicere, 'under Major T. Hislop, 'selected the"two beet, platoons from ,each'company/ ,On under, perfect weather conditions^ the final and most gruelling-part took place/under the critical eyes of "an-'examining board from headquarters. This .board consisted of Major llowlings. Major .Fenton, Captain L. Andrew, V.C., Captain L. r George, Slaff-Sergeant-Major Eiteema, .and ' Sergeant Baigentl ' , • '; ,' ' The results showed a high degree of efficiency., The winning ' platoon was Special Platoon No. I, which secured 81 1 per cent, of the total marks. Number 1 Platoon' wast second, witH 71 per cent., and No. 8 Platoon was third, with 70 1 per cent. All the competing platoons showed very commendable ■ prowess in I .marching, and all secured excellent marks lin the inspection. .The officer's and non--commissioned officers in charge o£ the .various "platoons, deserve great credit for the excellent display, as.aluo do the boys 11) 1 the rank?, whose ■ loyalty and ■ co-opera-I tion were freely given. v •
