CHRISTMAS PARTY

FUNCTION AT MOERAx

A fancy dress Christmas party.,in aid of the funds of the Moera branch of tho Free Kindergaiten was held in the Moera Hall on Saturday afternoon, and was a great success.! Tho one hundred children present, many of -them in colourful and original costumes, had a most enjoyable time. The party was organised by Sirs. G. W. Atkins, teacher of tho kindergarten, assisted by a committee of ladies. The afternoon passed pleasantly with games, folk dancing, and tugs-of-war. Mr. J. Lamb, as clown, caused much amusement. A mouth organ solo was given by Jim Douglas, and a grand march was very effective anu well done. The tea was much enjoyed by the. children,1 a small prize being given to each adding to the pleasure. The judges of costumes were Slesdames J. W. Andrews, W. Nash, and D. S. Patrick, assisted by Sliss Doiisi Fisher.

The following awards were made:— Best dressed boy, Maurice Payes ("Cossack"); best dressed girl, Dulcie McEichren ("Hawaiian")'; original boy, Bayner Baker ("pirate"); original girl, Edna O'Connor ("paper parcel"); best paper boy, Graham Davies; best paper girl, Juno Wilson; special, Douglas and Kathie Coutts ("fisherman and, fisherwife").
