HARAKEKE.
Harakeke Mines, Limited, Coromaudel, reports that a -ton of general dirt from the "top level of the 3ft reef was crushed in the Chapman's Find battery at Coromandel for a return of 3oz Bdwt of retorted gold. Further trial erushings are being taken out before the directors decide on the most suitable equipment. The company will probably start crushing with its own battery before 1935. NEW R/'ER GOLD DREDGING.
The secretary Neve River Gold Dredging Co., Christehurcb, reports that a company has been registered for the purpose of "acquiring approximately 300 acres eituated • about 16' miles south of Greymouth, "and for the purpose of constructing a modern sluice-box type dredge to work thereon. A total of twenty-four bores and two shafts have been sunk on the property,' and values were 6hown to average lOd at £4 per ounce. Cheek bores sunk showed slightly better values. The dredge it is proposed to construct will have . a .capacity of approximately 12,000 yards per week, and it is estimated that the life of the claim will ■be eight to nine years. . NEW CORNSH POINT. ■The mine manager, New Cornish Point, reports November 12 as follows:—For the last ■'■ fortnight the .level east has been advanced for a further distance of 80 feet, making the total distance 305 feet from the commencing.point in the south level. The .country driven through consisted of a coarse stony gravel, it being .of a more solid nature than usual, but had] to be timbered. The bottom is below ,the floor of the level, and the usual quantity of water i 3 making in the face. The values in the wash were of a low grade. bPITONUI OPTION. Big River Gold Mines, Limited, reports for/ week ending ■ November .15:— No.; 3 crosscut: Distance driven sft; distance I from south' drive, 271 ft; distance • from shaft 46Sft; country very hard. No. 4 north drive: Total distance driven (55ft) on reef. The face is looking well, the i-ecf maintaining its width. The reef in the leading stope .above the level appears'to slightly increase in width.-,.' No. 4 south drive: Total distance driven 35ft, 20Et being on reef. The reef is 4ft 0m wide in the ' face. Gold is seen in the stone. The battery .stopped'crushing on Wednesday owing to shortage of water. Crushing will be recommenced as soon as it'rain's. ■/■ • - • .'
