Owiiig to a breakdown in the pump last Monday work was not resumed at Mahakipawa. until Thursday afternoon, and there was no wash-up this week.

Mataki.—During last weejv the dredge ■worked for 123% hours on a face of 300 ft, pulling ahead 40ft in ground the average depth of which was 14ft. The return. for the week was seriously affected by delays caused through roots, stumps, and trees, also by having to dredge out portions of the old dredge that worked here many years ago. ■ ■ "Worksop Extended reports.
