DELIGHTFUL EVENING
ITALIAN CULTURAL CLUB
The 1934 session of tho Italian Language and Cultmo Club was, brought to a close on Thuisday even-1 ing, the attendance constituting^ recoid. During the year the language study circle has mado excellent piogrcss under Cay. Dott. Formichella, and prior to tho social proceedings on Thursday an examination was held to test the proficiency of the students. The rules and constitution of the club, which had been discussed at pievljus meetings o± the member?, were unanimously adopted.' Professor Boyd Wilson outlined tho arrangements for the ball to be held on tho occasion of the visit of the Italian cruiser Aimand Diaz to Wellington. Ho also referred to the painstaking mannoi in which Cay. Dott. Foimichella had conducted the language class : during the session, and on his motion la vote of thanks to Signor Formichclla was carried with s acclamation. A vote of thanks was also accorded tho porformers who assisted during the session. Following tho formal business a delightful Italian one-act comedy was presented by Signorina M. Contcnti, Signor O. Carraro, and Signor V. ,A. Truda. The play was pioduccd by Mis. Green. This was followed by an attractive musical progiamme ananged by Signor A. P. Truda. Contialto solos, "Voeo di Donna" (Poncluclli) "Aye Maiia" (Luzzi), wcio sung by Mis. T. Trecoy. Miss Chnstina Ormiston, sopiano, was heard in "Un Bel Di Vcdiemo" (Puccini) and "Songs My Mother Taught Me"'■( Dvorak). Miss B. Bced played the violin solos "Romance" (Wiemawski) and "Lo Cygnc" (Saint Saeus) with accompaniment by Miss Lalla Vondeisloot. Miss G. Aldridge was hcaid in Liszt's pianoforte tianscuption of "nark, Hark the Laik" (Schubert), and Signoi Lucicn Ccsaroni led the membcis m the singing of "Giovmezza" Mis O. P. Aldridge was tho accoinpam&t. Members of the club will attend the Italian ball in the Town Hall on ,Mon- | day next. *
