FEILDING CATTLE FAIR

Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Feilding , supplementary - cattle fair held on Friday:: For this period'of the year a particularly good yarding of cat-, tie was penned; more particularly in the face of the last two or three heavy yardings of battle which' we have had at this point. The majority of the cattle offered were from distant parts, very few locallybred cattle being on offer. The majority, of the, yarding consisted'of young cattle with a few pens of particularly good.cows and heifers and one or two pens of rather good grown bulllocks. In all we estimate there .would be' in the ; vicinity of-2400 cattle yarded,'bur-entry--comprising 876 head, and we report a total clearance under the hammer., Buyersl were present from all parts of -the Wellington Province, Hawke's Bay, King Country, and Taranakii; Taranaki buyers were ,ke.en competitors for young cattle, the majority of our: entry / going in that direction. Although the 'attendance of the public at yesterday's fair, was not1 up to. the usual standard, nevertheless a very/strong sale resulted,'' there being keen /competition right from ,the very. outset; '.From now on- the yardings of cattle in Feilding will ,be on a very.much smaller scale, as the majority of. our cattle have'been cleaned up. In the sheep section at, Friday's fixture fat sheep were ' yarded in usual numbers^ and in.this section a marked decline, in'values'.was experienced'compared with the corresponding sale" some -two weeks ago, fat'sheep showing a decline of anywhere^ from -2s to 2s ,'■' 6d, ; per 'head. While in j the .store sheep section a particularly good yarding -came "forward for this time of the; year*;.- we reportf a. total clearance at prices which .must, be", looked upon; as in the favour of venders. y .
