A LOAN FOR WORKS
(To tha Editor.) Sir, —We read in your paper that the Wellington City Council intends to place before the , ratepayers a., further i loan proposal of some £159,000 to carry lout works of need to our city. As a ratepayer I should like to ask the Mayor and councillors -through your paper if this vote is sanctioned by the people, will they pledge themselves to carry out the works put forward f We have had in the past several loan pro* posals placed'before the ratepayers which have not been carried out. As a ratepayer, 1 think our council should raise double'this amount and placo our 'city first among ' the four centres of New Zealand. At present Wellington is far behind and one wonders when' our ■ leading citizens will ■\vake up. Air-minded as the world is today we are without a decent airport. Let us build a sea wall, reclaim' part of LyaJl Bay, and make an airport to be pioud of, and within the next decade the money will be well spent.—l am, WAKE UP WELLINGTON.
