A POET'S YOUTH
The contract between the late of intellectual and emotional growth of the youth of England and that of New Zealand is an enduring H phenomenon. The latest example is provided by "The Litany of Beauty" which has been published by Mr. Charles Stuart Perry. Air Perry is a grandson of George Gordon McCrae, the well known Aui tralian writer, the nephew of Hugh McCrae, and the son of DoTothy Prances Perry, so he should have Oiterary in chnationr and ability. In this volume, however, he has gathered'the results of his literary^ nonage. There is promise of achievement rather than actual achievement. Mr. Perry should persevere, he has feeling, fluency, and imagination and in a few years these should be fused sufficiently for him to present meritorious work. A few short poems already give evidence of notable advance since his twentieth year. ■s. V \
