DELEGATES ENTERTAINED
Glorious weather and beautiful surroundings added to the enjoyment of the afternoon' given by Mrs. Elliott (Dominion president) at her home, Silverstieam, yesterday to onablo tho pio'vincial committeo and branch piesiden'ts and secretaries of tho Wellington district of the Longuo of Mothers to meet the delegates to • tho Dominion Council. Officers of tho league .had come from Palmcrston North, Mastorton/Carterton, and Gieytown/ as woll as all the city .and suburban branclios. Oppoitunity was given for mombers to exchange ideas and converse on mutual interests in various districts. A walk through tho fine nativo bush, and afternoon tea servea in picturosquo surroundings, aaaed to tho happiness of the afternoon, a#id visitors rejoiced that tho opportunity had boon givon them to shaie in this happy function. Mrs. English (Auckland provincial president), on behalf of tho guosts, thanked Mrs. Elliott for hor kind mid geneious hospitality to tho delegates during their council meeting, and assured her of the loyalty and gratitude of the whole movement. Tho remarks were endorsed by Mrs. Whito (Wellingt6n provincial president), who spoke particularly on behalf of tho Wellington Provincial Committeo and the branch officers.'In acknowleagment Mrs. Elliott oxpressed the hope that the spirit of friendly co-operation, that t was such a characteristic of the league, wou/d always help thj members to think 'of the league as a Dominion one. She thanked members for their loyalty, particularly the officers of tho country branches who had come aown,especially for tho gathering. Among the visiting membois of tho council present were Mesaames English, Whyte, Fleming (Auckland), Sinclair and McGregor (Otago), and Sprott (Mothers' Union). PROPOSED NEW BEANOH. •The influence of the League of Mothers seems ever-spreading. It, is rather a wonderful thing that there should be in this country thousands of women linked together by the simple bond of motherhood. Inquiries have come recently from Ngaio as* to the possibility of establishing a branch in that'charming suburb, and the organising committee has made arrangements for a meeting to be held at the local town hall, Ottawa Road, at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday next. A cordial welcome will be given to all who attend. Mrs. -E. Dawson (honorary Dominion secretary) will exx)lain the aims androbjects of the league', ana Mrs. W. S. Boilings will presiae."
