The barque Bannoekburn, bound from Auckland to Norman ton,, went ashore on the Queensland coast, but it. wag expected that she would be got off. The wrecks of'two schooners andttwo barques, the Smiling Morn, .Ugitagitau, Reconnaisanco, and Elizabeth, at,the Friendly Islands, were, fully reported in "The Post" of.November 6, 1884. All went ashore and broke up.,. No lives were lost. A Wellington firm turned the Lastingham disaster to good account by chartering the Union,,, Company's steamer Arawkta, and'running excursions to the wreck at 10s a head. Faeih-1 ties for exploring the sunken ship byl boat were provided, and special descents by the divers engaged in salving the cargo were' arranged.
