N.Z. COUNCIL MEETING
Applications to conduct various Dominion championship regattas (luring the forthcoming season will bo considered at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association next Thursday evening. Auckland has applied for the Now Zealand championships which it is suggested should bo held on the Whau course on Saturday, February A 2 next, Auckland . are assured of having this .regatta, but some effort' is being made by Wellington to have.the date changed. Advice has been received in Wel-lington-that the Auckland Association is willing. to put forward the date of the championships until March 3. This will allow the Wellington Association to hold'the Mothes Shield regatta some time-in February next. For. the interproviiicial championship eights applications have been received from Mai'lborough Association, ' date. Easter Saturday, 1935, at Picton; Otugo. Association, date E/ster Saturday, 1935, at Duriedin; Wellington Association, date Easter Saturday, 1935, at Wellington. Nominations, for official positions-on the-cbuncil of the':N.Z.A.R.A. have been received as follows: — For president:—Mr. W. J. Girling (Marlborou'gh),-.Mr. W, J. Wilson (Otago), and Mr. H. W. Hudson (Auckland), For vice-presidents (two required): — j Mr. W. J. Girling (Marlborough), Mr. F. AY. Mothes (AVellington), Mr. F. D. Kesteyen. (Canterbury.), Miv A. C. jNTor T den (Auckland), and Mr.' AY. Sharpe (AVahganui).' ' For council (seven required): —Mr. A. Cockroft (Southland), *Mr. M. A Turner (Canterbury), *Mr. G. Lauchlau (AVaiiganui), *Mr. H. Paton (Otago), Messrs. *R. G. Duncan and C. J. Mac Gibbon (Wellington), Messrs. *D. R. Mcnzios', E. S. limes, and AY. Kane (Auckland), and -*Mr. A. Ross (East Coast). (*Sitting members.) The Marlborougli Association will bring forward tho following now rule •for adoption:—-"A ■welter weight junior oarsman or sculler shall not weigh more than lOst 71b on tho day of tho race, and winners in this class shall not lose their junior status except in the welt or weight junior class, and shall bo eligible to compete in tho open, junior class." The AVaiiganui Association proposes that sixpence only of the annual levy be called up for the coming year. Three remits will be sponsored by the Auckland delegates. They are:—(l) That a subsidy of £20 be paid to any affiliated club ordering an eight-oared b'qat, such subsidy to bo paid when delivery of the boat is taken;. (2) that the age of youths be left as at present with the added stipulation that youths ■must be maiden oarsmen; arid (3) that the minimum weight of coxswains for all\races other.than be Tat, and that for eights'bo Os't.
