VISIT TO AUSTRALIA
FIRST STAGE BY AIR TO MARSEILLES

The departure of the Duke of Gloucester tomorrow on his official visit to Australia as the King's representative at Melbourne's Centenary celebrations will be private and informal, bu1; representatives of the Dominions Office, including the Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, and the High Commissioner for Australia, Mr. Stanley Bruce, will attend at the aerodrome where the Duke takes off on the first stage of the journey to Marseilles, where he will join the cruiser Sussex.
On the way out to Australia the Duke will call at Colombo, Ceylon, where he will hand over the throne of the Kinga of Kandy, which has been kept at Windsor Castle since 1815, when, in response to appeals from Ceylon, the King of Kandy was dethroned.
