PLEASANT GATHERING

Mrs. Wallis entertained most pleasantly a large gathering of friends of the Eev. C. C. and Mrs. Harper (who are leaving shortly for England), at the Jacobean Boom at Kirkcaldie's yesterday afternoon.
The room, • pleasantly warm and bright with flowers, was arranged with long tea tables, and a delicious tea was served and enjoyed while people chatted together, or, as many as possible with the guests of honour. There were many "brother clergy" present, as well as other friends, <ls Mr. Harper had been a vicar in the dioeese-for more than twenty years, and with his wife made many friends.
Mrs. Wallis received; her guests, wearing a pale grey reception frock-of wool lace over aiinon to tone, and a wide marabout scarf and grey hat to match. Mrs. Harper was in a black ensemble with- small matching- hat.
