LONDON PRICES EASIER

The butter market in London was slow this week, although there was more business doing towards the end, according to the weekly cabled report, dated April 13, received by the Dairy Hoard. Prices are easier, New Zealand salted being quoted (wholesale) at 70s to 71s per cwt (which equals approximately 8.05 d per lb, 1.0.b.), compared with 72s to 73s at the end of last week. Unsalted is quoted at from 71s to 725. Other quotations are: — Australian, 70s; Danish, spot, 84s; Dutch, 70a to 775; Estonian, Lithuanian, and Latvian, 70s to 71s. Ketail prices remain unchanged, with New Zealand selling at !)d per lb, and Danish at lOd.

The cheese market is quiet with New Zealand selling retail at (id per lb. Wholesale prices are: —New Zealand, white and coloured, 42s 6d to 43s per cwt (a drop of Is on last week); Canadian, 52s to 565; finest English farmers', 88a to 100s.

A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., advise having received cable advice from J. and J. Lonsdale and Co. (London), Ltd., as follows:—"Butter: Market quiet.' New Zealand, 69s to 70s per ewt; Australian, 6Ss to 695; Danish, G2s f.0.b., 83s landed. Cheese: Market quiet. White, 42s 6d; coloured, 42s 6d." ■ Dalgety and Co. have been advised by cablegram from Samuel Page and Son, London, April 12, as follows:—"Butter and cheese markets slow. Butter: Danish, 82s to 84s per cwt (84s to 86s); New Zealand, finest salted, 60s to 70s (71s to 735); Aus.tralian, finest unsajted, 68s' to 70s (70s to 71s)'; Australian, finest salted, 68s to 09s (69s to 71s); Australian, G.A.Q., 66s to 67s (675; to.GBs). Cheese: New Zealand, white, '42s 6d (43s to 445); New Zealand, coloured,'42s 6d (43s to 445); spot price for Canadian white, 50s to 56s (52s to 565); spot price for Canadian coloured, 50s to 56s (52s to 565). Last week's quotations shown in parentheses."
