A cold strong southerly wind prevailed during Saturday and, except in TVestland, scattered showers fell in most districts. By Sunday morning, however, the front of an intense anticyclone had moved on to New Zealand and during Sunday flue and milder- weather prevailed, winds being less strong and having more of x westerly tendency. Since Sundny night a westerly depression has formed on tlie southern -border of an intenso anticyclone and the former was this morning advancing on to southern Xew Zealand Consequently strong northwest winds were blowing about and south of Cook Strait and scattered showers were reported In districts with a- westerly aspect.
