The Medical Beseareh Council's annual report refers to the opening up of an apparently promising new line of attack on the-influenza problem. It is the result of the discovery by three doctors, P. P. Laidlaw, C. H. Andrews, and W. Smith, that human influenza can be transmitted to ferrets, thus bringing the disease withiu the range of experiment. After recovery the ferrets were found to bo immune from further infections during a period, the length of which has not yet been determined. A virus was also discovered which acts apparently as the primary infective agent in human influenza.
