MEN'S DOUBLES FINAL
The final of the men's doubles championship, ■which, had been postponed since the Wellington Lawn Tennis. Association's annual tournament in January, was decided yesterday afternoon. The match was between D. G. France and C. E. Malfroy and R. Howe and E. McL. Perkins, and was won by the former pair after a close five-set game. France and Malfroy took the first two sets, but' after that their opponents! showed more enterprise, and. the sets were evened. In the deciding set France and Malfroy held a 3-0 lead and then advanced to 5-2.*" Solid play by Howe and Ferkins resulted in 5-all being reached, but the other pair won the next two games, winning the match 7-5,' 6-3, 3-6, 4-6, 7-5. Prance played his usual steady game, but his partner was erratic on many_ occasions. Ferkinsl played well right throughout the match, smashing with precision. Howe began badly, but was stroking well during the latter sets, his strong net attack and angled placing winning many points. -. . . '■■ ...
