TREATY WITH BELGIUM
EXTENSION OF CONCESSIONS
The tariff concessions granted to Belgium under . the Trade Arrangement (Belgium.and New Zealand) Ratification Act : whieh was passed last session, have been extended by Order in cil published, in the Gazette last night to ati. other-nations with which the Dominion has most-favoured-natioh treaties. These countries are Argentina, Austria, Brazil, China, Czechoslovakia, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Hungary; Italy, Japan, Norway, and. Spain. Pnder the Belgium-New Zealand trade arrangement New Zealand . agreed to > admit the following Belgian goods at the rates shown:—Boot laces, other than leather, 40 per, cent.; carpets and floor rugs, 45' per cent.; glassware, 40 per cent.; sensitised surfaces, other than postcards, 20 per cent.; .22 and .303 calibre rifles, 20 per cent.; firearms, n.e.i., 40 per cent. The surtax was abolished on these Belgian goodsand on matches, bicycle tires,, window glass, lead and zinc in bars, rods, plates, and sheets, and cotton or cotton and silk moquettes, tapestries, and tickings of Belgian origin.
