PICNICS
The office'staffs of the Petone Borough Council and the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board on Wednesday combined to hold a picnic at Maidstone Park. There were about 30 present, and the day passed pleasantly with cricket, rounders, etc., Among those present were the Mayor o£ Petone (Mr. D. MeKenzie). and Mrs. McKenzie, the Town Clerk, Mr. H. Firth, and Mrs. Firth" the chairman of the Gas Board, Mr. W. G. Lodder, and Mrs; Lodder, the works manager, Mr. C. Shaw, and Mrs. Shaw, and Councillor E. W. Toomath and Mrs. Toouiath. The outside staff of the Petone Council held their picnic at Moonshine on Wednesday. The prizes for the sports were presented by the Mayor (Mr. D. McKenzie}.
The N.Z.R. Road Motor Services advertise _in this issue their usual convenient special omnibus services to and from Hutt Park for the trotting meeting tomorrow.
