Mr. E. Page, S.M., dealt -with cases in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. She was admitted to probation for two years on the first charge, and on the second she was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon -within two years. Charges of stealing a woollen sweater and two brushes were made against Stanley Tracey, aged 21, a mechanical engineer, and':he ..was convicted and ordered to iiome tip for sentence within twelve months if called upon. Chief-Detective Carroll said that the goods were! taken by Tracey when he left a relief camp at Paraparauniu. ■ Harriet Gandy was convicted of stealing a. frock valued at £4 5s from James Smith, Ltd., and of stealing a. frock and a skirt valued at £2 5s lid, the property of a person unknown.; She was placed on probation for two years and an order was made for the value'of the goods to be restored to the owners'. The ' woman's story was that she had found the articles. An application for the suppression of he!1 name was refused. On a charge of assaulting a nine-year-old girl, Charles Harte, aged 39, a commission agent, Svas convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called 'upon within twelve months. "There -was no doubt that he was very much intoxicated at the time," rcmavked the Magistrate.
