RETIRING PROFESSORS
AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY
.Taking the opportunity of the. last week of their actual service ■with the Auckland "University College, the Auckland District '■ Court of Convocation on Tuesday evening farewelled the four members of the college staff -who have retired—Prof essor C. W, Egerton (English), Professor Hi W. Segarr "(mathematics),- : Professpr 'W. E.; Thomas: (music), and.Mr: A. H. Bowell, one of the- original members of the staff of the science department, ' There wa? an;attendance of some 200 former students and graduates, representing a long period of the life of the college, who took the opportunity to renew the acquaintance both of those who guided them to examination success and with one another, . the "Star" reports^;; Other:staff members were also-there."-.-:- ■ ■. ■' ■ ■..'.■ ■:; The gratitude felt by graduates towards the professors and Mr. Bow«ll for what they had done for the college was expressed by Mr. A. B. Thompson, president of the Court of Convocation, who also paid- a tribute to their influence on the students who had passed under their care.
