BLENHEIM SWIMMERS
, POSITION EXPLAINED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NELSON^ This Day. The executive of the Nelson Swimming Centre states that statements in,, a Press Association message from Blenheim regarding an alleged threat to disqualify participants in tho carnival which is intended to be held by the recently-formed ladies', club at Blenheim next Saturday, are not according to fact. , Application was recently made to tho centre for the affiliation of the- club. This was received by the centre, and forwarded to the Now Zealand council with a recommendation for approval. -The Nelson centre has not yet been notified of the acceptance of the affiliation, and so the centre merely informed the Blenheim swimmers of the rules of the New Zealand Association in regard to their taking part in a carnival.arranged by a non-affiliated club. As soon as tho New Zealand council sends its approval of affiliation, every further assistance.would naturally, be accorded tho club. The Nelson Centre, of course, is recognised' by the New Zealand, council, and consequently its authority is undoubted.
