SPA TREATMENT
PATENT FOR HARROGATE
(From "The Post's" Representative.)' LONDON, January 19.' Harrogate has evolved-and patented a new method'of giving the carbonic acid or so-called "JSTauheim '' treatment for heart troubles, and claims that this new system enables, the bath- to be given i'u a much more scientific and exact manner than has hitherto been the case; - -.-.—- - - - - In naturally CO2 impregnated waters at the Continental spas carbonic acid gas is given off irregularly .and spasmodically, and the necessary evolution of the gas bubbles on the skin is erratic and irregular, with consequent imperfect beneficial action on the patient. The new Harrogate process ensures a constant, perfectly regular production and bombardment of millions of minute gas-bubbles alliover the-surf ace of the body, -with consequent certainty- of the maximum benefit of the. bath being obtained. . '''.-..': Heart eases and blood.pressure'ease 3 treated at "Harrogate are beeonling quit© formidable in number. The other new treatment at Harrogate—the Tango (mud) treatment—has also been responsible for numbers' of patients ivho hitherto had to go to a. Continental spa to obtain their treatment -with, freshly-obtained fango, but the fortunate discovery of beds of: this valuable therapeutic agent at Harlow Car, one and a half miles from ■Harrogate, has resulted in a British, spa being able to more than hold its own. -troth, the foreign resort in this curative method also.
