WEEKEND BIVOUAC

WELLINGTON REGIMENT

In > order to coraiDlcte training for the military'year, the Wellington Regiment will-attend a weekend bivouac at Treutham on March 17 and IS. This is to make up for the time lost at Waipukurau through the abandonment of the recent camp there. Pay according to rank, rations, and transport will be granted, and this will enable those trainees who were at Waipukurau to qualify for the full six days' pay to which they would, have been entitled had the weather permitted the completion of that camp. Intending recruits who arc anxious to qualify for the bivouac should report to the Adjutant, Captain L. W. "Andrew.' V.C., N.Z.S.C.,' without delay so that medical examination, attestation, and issue of uniform can be completed. There are vacancies in the Yiekers gun, rifle, and Lewis gun platoons, transport, signal, and intelligence sections/- •'•... ■ The commanding officer of,the regiment,' Lieut.-Colonel J. L. Saunders, D.5.0.. V.D., expresses his appreciation of the co-operation extended by those employers who granted facilities for leave to members of their staff to' enable them to go to the previous camp. The syllabus of. training for the Wellington Regiment, .it is stated, is pvcpared with a View- not only to equipping the citizen-soldier with the ability to take up arms in defence : pf his country, but also to return the Territorial to his civilian employment, with a full sense of discipline aud an improved mental and physical standard. "We. welcome the public of Wellington to any of our parades, camps, or manoeuvres," stated Colonel Saunders, "and nothing would please us better than to have ex-officers and soldiers and members of the public generally taking a lively interest in the welfare' of the regiment."
