FAREWELL TO MR. B. SHEIL
A number of Wellington people interested in aviation matters, and personal and business friends, gathered yesterday at Kirkcaldie and Stains" to say farewell to Mr. Beau Sh'eil, aviation officer of the Vacuum Oil Company, on the occasion, of his leaving Wellington on transfer to' Melbourne. '.■' After luncheon, Mr. J. T. Spears conveyed to Mr. She'il on behalf of the Australian. Society-the best wishes of members and their Tegret. that-"he was leaving New Zealand. '•"•■• Mr. Gavin Wallace.. said that Mr. Sheil had been of the greatest^assistance to the Wellington Aero Club and to aero clubs generally in the Dominion; his practical interest- had &t all times been voluntary " and' mostwilling. The Director of Air.Services (Squad-ron-Leader T. M. Wilkes) said that &1I were sorry to see Mr. Sheil go from New Zealand, for he had made maijy friends by his joviality and his "sincerity in pushing aloug aviation in New Zealand. "However, be is definitely not going for good, for he is a member of the Kew Zealand Air Force, and he has leave for six months, onjy," added Squadron-Leader Wilkes.. Mr. W. A. Nisbet spoke.of the enthusiasm and success with which Mr. Shcil had tackled the organisation of the I^ew Zealand Air Force Band. Ho could leave the Dominion knowing that, very largely as a result of his own efforts, the half-way mark had already been passed.. . . Mr. E. A. Sevier, general manager of the Vacuum Oil Company. Proprietary (N.Z.), paid a high tribute to" Mr. Sheil as a loyal officer of the company, and wished him a continuation of his Kew Zealand success, in Australia.
