N.Z. MEDICAL CORPS
F3ELD AMBULANCE TESTS
The. Second Field Ambulance, New Zealand Medical Corps, resumed its fortnightly parades recently, when the unit was inspected by the Director of Medical Services, Colonel J. L. Frazerhurst, \.D., M.D. The Assistant Director of Medical Services, Lieutenant-Colonel J? T. Bowerbank, D.5.0.. and Captain J. Plimmer, adjutant to the unit, were also present. After the inspection the D.M.S. examined two stretcher squads under LanceCorporals W. R. Jones and W. G. Stott, who were competing for the N.Z.M.C. Challenge Shield. This trophy in for competition between the Auckland, Wellington, and Canterbury Field Ambulances, and is at, present held by. the Ist Field Ambulance Auckland, who won the event in 1029, when the last competition was held. The D.M.S. originally intended to judge each ambulance at its respective annual camp this year, but' owing to the early return of the 2nd Field Ambulance from Waipukurau, this was impossible as far ?s the unit waa concerned. The test, Vhicli was rather an exhaustive one, should enable the D.M.S. to gauge the standard of work" attained by the three ambulances concerned. A third squad equipped an advanced dressing station, which looked very realistic with its operating table, the array of surgical and medical instruments, and the .white-gowned orderlies. > To' allow the men to complete their training interrupted by the Waipukurau floods, a weekend bivouac has been arranged for March 17 and 18 at Treiitham. The mfen will march in on the Friday evening in order to have Myo'whole days' training., Intending reqruits should avail themselves of the opportunity of attending this .camp, as an interesting programme has been arranged.
