The committee- of the Lower Hutt .branch of the League of Mothers paid a surprise visit recently to the. seaside home of; tho founder of - tho branch, Mrs. Kersley, at Eastbourne. ..Glorious weather and a keen desiro to .honour one who has meant so much'to the move.ment in the Valley all helped to make the afternoon: a wonderful . .niemoiy. Mrs.-H. Lowe,, president of .tliQ-Lower Hutt branch, in; asking -Mrs.- Kersley'e acceptance of a book, yoiced^ the feeling of tho members when she-Wished; | for Mrs. Kersley and-her family- joy and happiness in their future efforts, and sincere thanks for all they had 'accomplished in the past. A unique!.: floral tribute made and preseiited.r.by- Mrs: John Mitchell, in. the" form of a basket made from a punga with the'-'native ferns and an artistic arrangement of flowers, bore tho greetings of the league. Mrs. Kersle3 r, who was completely taken, by. surprise, thanked the members for their expressions of good will. A musical programme contributcd'to by Mesdames Schmidt, Burgess, Lowe, Ghaxlcsworth, with Mrs. J. Andrews as accompanist, gave pleasure to the thirty committee members who had motored round in holiday mood to start the new leagno year with a cheer.
