MASTERTON PRICES
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., ottered a good yarding of sheep at the Mastcrton sale this week. There was a largo attendance of buyers, and very keen competition ou all lines offered. A good line of 428 five-year-old ewes, on account of Mr. T. A. Brown, "Wailii," realised 225. Wright, Stephensoii, and Co., Ltd., report:—A heavy yarding of sheep came forward at our weekly sale at Masterton on Wednesday, our offering numbering 2895. There was a large and representative attendance, buj-ers from the West Coast operating freely. However, local farmers were not easily outbid, and the bigger portion of the yarding remained in this district. Prices were on a high level throughout, although the quality of the breeding ewes was not up to the standard of the previous fair. Buyers had to fill their requirements, and considering quality, prices were in advance of last sale. Wethers showed a sharp rise and realised in: some cases 2s to 3s above venders' expectations. Lambs also sold well. We made a total clearance as under: Account- "Awapiripiri," 199 two-tooth ewes, 19s; 45 four and six-tooth ewes, 17s lOd; .105 four and five-year ewes, 20s; 95 four-tooth wethers (good), 23s 6d; 297 two and four-tooth wethers, 22s Id. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that there was keen competition for all lines offered at the Eketahuna sale yesterday Mixed age ewes made 13s to 23s 2d; two-tooth ewes, "21s to 245; five-year ewes, 19s- f m ewcß, IBs sd; b.f. lambs, ]4s 5d to lGs Sdfat wethers, 23s Gd; Southdown rams I^-s to 3gs.
