OPTIMISTIC MAYOR
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Application for portion of the offer of & 200,000 for the aerial defence of ijondon, which was recently .declined by tho British Government; has been mado-by the Mayor of Dunedin (tho Rev. Mr. Cox). Ho stated this morning that Lady Houston had twice made this offer, which had been declined by Britain. A x'orticm of this sum would be acceptable for the expansion of aviation at Dunedin, and ho had just applied to her for it. "It's a long shot, but well worth trying," lie said. •
