.„ , NEW YORK, February 27. ' Mr. v D. !M. Dow, assistant Australian Trade Commissioner, -who is forwarding a detailed Teport to the Government on the results of the tasting by experts of Australian wines, gave the Australian Press Association a resume of some of the impressions-of the experts. ■ ■..-'. The sparkling Burgundy was generally, considered an excellent wine; the claret was held to be comparable to Italian wine of the Chianti type; white ports were compared to European muscatels and were' called flavorous, full-bodied wines;' the ruby port was something for Australia to be proud of; the Burgundy had a beautiful colour and was a splendid wine; the three hocks were considered as Moselle types. It was the inianimous opinion that Australian wines could in time gain American favour and recognition, while the whole lino was, in general, found very good. A market, would be assured if they could meet Californian wines in. price, but thfly would have to undersell the European products.
