(By relesraph.—Press,Association.)' CHRISTCHURCH, This Day". Customs duty collected at Christchurch during February yielded -£18,234 less than m February, 1933. Following are the returns, figures ."for February of last year being shown-in. parentheses:-Customs, £56,308 .('£74,532); beer duty, £5338 (£5379); petrol tax, £13,097 (£20,843); tire duty, £568 (£374); sales tax, £19,824 (£2310, for a period of three weeks only). - AUCKLAND, This Day. An increase of '£28,138 is shown in Customs duties collected at 'Auckland last month compared with'the receipts for February, 1933. The respective totals were £217,057 and £189,919. With the exception of June, the receipts in each month of the current financial, year. have exceded those for the corresponding period of the preceding year. In the 11 months of the current year -£2,173,740. has been collected, against £1,829,751 in the similar period of. the previous year, an increase .of £343,989. A decrease of £491 is shown in the combined receipts from petrol duty and tire tax last month compared with the- total for February, ,1933; the respec-' tive figures' were £41,933 and £42,424. For the period of 11 months, however,, the current year's figures exceed those for the previous year by £20,528, the comparative totals being £468,407 and £447,879. The total sales tax since the inauguration, is £2,599,420. ' DUNEDIN, This Day. Customs returns for February, with the figures for February of lact year given in parentheses, are, as follows: —Customs, £44,515 (£52,636); beer, £17,731 (£17,118); petrol, £12,879 (£12,878); tires, £572 (£543); sales tax, £17,260 (£23,982). The total is £92,957, compared with £107,157 in February last year.
