LONG HOLE IN ONE
Jlien Hall, who won an Empire Games boxing title for South Africa, has taken .up golf, and with a mighty swipe holed put in one, over a distance of 320 yards (says the "Daily Mail"). .The "wallop that counts in the ring, you see, also tells on the golf course. The feat must have cost Hall a large round of drinks,-.but he oversteps the mark when he claims to have done the longest holo-in-oiie ever recorded. Frank Mellus, who was a crack rifle shot, did a 374 yd hole in a stroke, aided by a following wind, at the Los Angeles Country Club. That is the longest ever. An Ffilish golfer, too, can go one better than Hall. t George Kirby, playing'on tho Stoneham course, Southampton, sunk his: ball at the 340 yd hole hfone.
