WALKER CUP VETERANS
Quite a stir has been caused in both America and Great Britain by the selection of 51-year-old H. C. Egan for this year's U.S.A. Walker Cup team (writes Hector Morrison), Naturally, all British players are now saying, "Wouldn't it be great if he was opposed to our 55-year-old champion, Michael Scott?" Although it is thirty years since Egan won: his first championship, he showed his capabilities in the U.S.A. amateur championship , by; knocking out the U.S.A. open title-holder Johnny Goodman, who is-hailed by Americans as the best amateur in the world. Evidently, the American authorities are not obsessed with the idea that youth must have its chance in the team,,as Max Marston, 42 years of age, has also been selected. Marston was a Walker Cupite ten years ago, and faded right out of the picture until last year, when he was runner-up for the U.S.A. amateur title. Francis Ou'rmct, another veteran, will again captain America's team at famous St.. Andrew's.
