. LOWERS HUTTj,,MEETING:
I Tho" annual meeting of the Lower Hutt branch of the Biblo Society was held at the Manse, St. Alban's. Avenue, when the Rev. H. E. K. Fry presided over a large attendance;. The Revs. ■f. Lopdell and H. Sharp also took, part in.the meeting. The chairman in his address spoke of his interest in the work of the society, both in England and In Xew Zealand, emphasising the. fact that it had done a fine work in affording a meeting ground for Christian people of all ranks and stations and of every denomination. He spoke also of the missionary aspect of the work which was very, far-reaching. Mrs. Porter briefly slated the growth of the worldwide work of last year. Officers were elected (a complete list of the collectors will appear .later). The officers were-, as'follows:—President, TVlrs. 'Wilson; vice-presidents, M«sdames Fry, Sharp, and Ma'cky: secretary, Mrs. Grant. A tribute was paid to Mrs. Lopdell for her fine work as . president. Her organising Ability and. efficiency had meant so" much to tho branch which, otving to the rapid growth of tho district, had been a strenuous task. Appreciation of the work of Mrs. Grant was also expressed. 'Mrs. Lopdell thanked all for their hearty co-operation and entertained all present by a dainty afternoon tea.
