EASTER GIFTS

WELLINGTON COLLEGE

/.Considerable activity is at present being'displayed by the ladies connected with Wellington College in- the promotion of an Easter gift scheme, the. main object of which is-to remedy the present very defective state: of the driveway. Mririy who pay visits to the college are full of.lamentations .about; the roughness of the' road and the consequent damage to footwear when'they pass up and down the main driveway.-. The scheme promoted among "younger old boys" to provide funds to remedy this defect has somewhat languished, and now the parents have taken the matter up with a. determination to have the paving of the main drive accomplished this year. The boys of Wellington College propose to invite old boys, parents, and friends of the school to* a display "which they will give on the school grounds immediately following the culmination of the Easter gift scheme. This will be a gala day, bound to be enjoyed by all who attend. Already a strong, com: mittee of ladies has been set up "to look after the afternoon tea arrangements on that date. As a preliminary,' and' as a method of swelling the Easter gift funds, the following committee of ladies was appointed at a parents' meeting held in the gymnasium of the college to arrange a combined. bridge and five hundred ; party:—Mrs. sW. A. Armour (convener), Mesdames t Paetz; R. Caughley, E. W. Hunt; Dixohj Arlow, Balham, Lomas, Struthers, Goodwin, Saker, M. Watt, O'Donnell, Briggs; and Nash. The bridge evening is to be held, and as the Old Boys' Association will be lending their aid, it is expected that this will be quite an attractive function and that there will be over a-hun-dred tables. Those'interested in the college are invited to form parties and to communicate -with any member of the ladies' committee for the reservation of tables.
