FIRM AT STORTFORD LODGE.

At the start of the sale values for bullocks were firm on last week's rates at Stortford Lodge today, when au entry o£ approximately 250 head of fat cattle came forward. Cow and heifer beef showed an easier tendency. Towards the end, however, values eased off on all but the better quality lines. Bullocks, medium to prime, made £7 6s to £9 2s; others from £5 15s; cows, medium to prime, £4 16s to £6 3s; others from £3 2s; heifers, medium to prime, £4 18s to £5 15s;. others from £3 6s. An entry of 650 head of store cattle met a very good sale, the bulk of the entry being cleared at prices •on a par to slightly easier on.bullocks and on a par to slightly improved on younger lines. Steers and bullocks sold to £5 17s, and heifers and cows to £3 19s. A yarding of 3500 fat sheep met good competition. Ewes rose by Is to Is 3d a head, wethers and lambs being unchanged on last week's rates. Ewes, medium to prime, made 16s to 19a Id; others from 14s 3d; wethers, medium to prime, 21s 9d to 245; others from 20s 6d; lambs, 16s to 22s 6d. Store sheep, of which 23,000* were yarded, made late rates, wethers meeting a strong demand. Lines of five-year breeding ewes made good prices, younger sheep being more in buyers' favour. Ewes, two-tooths, sold to 24s 3d; older ewes, to 23s Id; fattening ewes to 12s; wethers to 225; lambs to 17s.
