(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, February 28. A better selection of wethers was available at Burnside today, but prime, ox beef was in ehort supply. In the cattle section 263 head were offered. The demand was keen for quality to 10s a head better than last week. Extra heavy prime bullocks sold to £11 7s 6d; prime medium, £7 17s 6d to £9 2a 6d; light prime, to £7. Best young cows and heifers sold to £7; medium cows, £3 17 S 6d to £5 7s 6d; light to £3 7s 6d. For the yarding of 1200 fat sheep competition was keen. At the commencement good ewes and wethers showed an advance of Is to Is 6d per head, but the rise was! not held after the third race, the balance of the yarding selling steadily at last week's values. Prime heavy wethers sold to 32s 3d; prime medium, 24s to 28s; light and unfinished, 21s to 235; extra prime heavy young ewes, to 25s 6d; prime heavy, 17s to 209; light and medium, 13s to 16s. A total of 1200 lambs was offered. Butchers and export buyers operated freely at full late rates. Graziers were more cautious at Is per head lower.than the previous sale prices. Best lambs sold to 28s 6d; prime, 22a to 245; medium, 19s to 21s Gd; light, 17fi to ISs Od. In the store cattle section well-bred four-year-old steers sold under keen competition to £7 4s, and values generally for this class showed an appreciation of about 10s per head. Good two-and-a-half-year steerst sold at £4 2s, and 2%-year heifers made £3 2s 6d. Vealers sold at late rates. The dairy entry was small, and good young cows close to profit met a ready sale at £4 10s to £6 16s per head. The fat pig entry numbered 154 head. In a firm sale best quality baconers made up to £3 10s, while heavy porkers sold to £2 Bs. There was a dragging sale for an entry of 114 store pigs.
