The personnel of the • Commission' which- is to investigate the administration of the Native Affair's Department ■ was: announced by the' Prime Minister. ■ j; (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes).. The .." Commission, which is to consist of four s\ members, will be presided over by Mr. ~~ Justice Smith and associated with him ■■ will be a lawyer, an accountant, and a ■--; farmer.' . ■ '-. • ■ ' . . - •. - -'. : "It will be recollected, "said Mr. ? Dealing with, that portion of the report : which, contained ;' criticism arising out of certain matters affecting the administration of the Native Affairs Department, the Com- r mittee recommended that a commissioa ".'"' be appointed to investigate the ad- ''' ministration of Native Affairs, :espec- '; ially in regard to the development of Native land and the administration of -: the estates of the Maori people. In the -' subsequent discussion of the report■> I - informed Parliament that the.
