Tho British Government today, handed to tho French' Ambassador ia London a reply to tho French Note regarding the quota restrictions,' whicK suggestpd that, pending tho negotiation of a now commercial agreement, th« present measures shq'uld remain in operation, but that no new ones should be instituted on either side. Although it is possible that further conversations between the two 'Governments may be necessary, it is now hoped that negotiations for a new agreement will begin during the coming month.
