NEW ZEALAND DAY
■ New Zealand Day was celebrated an London on February 6, the actual date on which the first signatures were attached to the Treaty of Waitangi; In 1840 (states "The Post's" representative.
There was a spqcal commemoration service at 3 p.m.. at St. Lawrence Jewry, immediately adjacent to the Guildhall, the official church of New Zealanders in London. The Rev. W. P. Besley, M.V.0., rector of the church, officiated. The service was attended in state by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and the sheriffs of the-City of London, and all N«w Zealanders and their friends were invited to- be present. • • .
Admiral-Sir Lionel • Halsey, R.N., G.C:M.G., G.C.Y.0., also attended, and ■unfurled the New Zealand flag which Had been presented to the church by the New Zealand Women's Association. ..'..'■ . •
