(By Telegraph) . (Special to the "Evening Post.") •' . MASTERTpN, This Day. The fire-alarm appliances in Masterton failed to act recently at a.fire at Lansdowne. . At. the last meeting.of the Masterton Fire Board, suggestions were made that a complete replacement of the alarm system would be necessary before long. However, it was stated by an expert that all that was.needed was a certain amount of' rewdring and the renewal of some parts. The whole of the work could be -carried out at"moderate cost.
Telephone improvements, also) are under consideration. It has been suggested that one or. tw-o telephone's at the fire station should be filled with a loud alarm bell/and sHould be used for inward messages only.
