WELLINGTON BURNS CLUB

The monthly meeting of the Wellington Burns Club was held recently in Nimmo's Concert Hall, and was presided over by Mr. Donald MaeFarlane. As the meeting was the laart for this year, the committee decided to run it on party lines. The supper table ran down one side, of the hall, and the chairs were arranged in groups. This innovation was very successful, as the arrangement offered more scope for social intercourse between members. The programme was arranged by Mr. Johannes C. Andersen. Appropriate eongs were rendered by Mrs. A. Wainwright ("Last May a Braw Wooer"), Miss Muriel Hitcbings ("My Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose"), Miss Norris ("Chris tina'a Lament"), Miss Peggy Jones ("Ye Banks and Braes")^Mr. W. Bentley ("Bonnie George Campbell"), Mr* Val. Jones ("Brian of Glenaar"). Duets were sung by Mise Peggy Jones and Mr. Val. Jones ("Fawwell to Summer"), Misses Rao Burns* and Muriel Hitchings ("O Wert Thou •in the Cauld Blast"), Mrs. A. Wainwright and Mr. Val. Jones ("Trot Here, Trot There," from "Veronique"). Two violin solos were given by Miss Hope Flaws. Mrs. Wakelin was the accompanist.
